T.O.W. – Week 8

I am currently in the process of my tweet assignment for week 8. Again I am a bit behind but am nevertheless enjoying by time on twitter so far. The thing I like about it is that it is different than both blogging or “facebooking”. For some reason I thought that Twitter would be somewhat more of the same in the likes of Myspace, Facebook or other social networking sites. I was pleasantly surprised that  it was not.

Considering I am behind, I am trying not to post 20 tweets in 1 day, I’m sure it has been done many times but being it that I am new to the whole idea, I will try to not crowd my page with useless information. I feel like there aren’t that many crazy things that I experience in one day that I could justifiably post on my wall. Hopefully something will happen in the next few days that will be worthy of posting.

I am enjoying the thought that it will help me make friends that I would otherwise never have known. Being as shy as I am, I enjoy the thought of making new friends this way. I strongly feel that one can never have to many people to share their ideas and thoughts with. It only makes us all better people, intellectually, socially and even in our fields of work. I can see how keeping up with twitter could even  help release stress by venting problems we deal with every day, somehow it makes us feel less alone in our troubles. I always thought writing things down or talking to someone can help relax ones’ self. Also it is important to help give others helpful advice that perhaps I may have learned through certain experiences. I can easily see how Twitter became as popular as it is and with that said, I don’t believe I will dread this assignment one bit.

T.O.W. – Week 7

For week 7  in PR writing we all made twitter accounts. I never conformed to getting a twitter (for no logical reason other than I didn’t think I needed one.) However, since it is a requirement for this course, I easily made one. My experiences with twitter so far have been good. It seems very interesting and that I will also find major benefits from having one. In the PR world it can help people keep in contact with each other and more importantly, network with people who can help one another out, as well as keep up to date on certain topics.

So far this is the most helpful in terms of my future life that I have been introduced to. I hope that one day through this tool, I will be able to network with people who can both help me in my on job and also gain a strong network of practitioners who can help me find a job or at least give me good advice for how to be the most effective PR practitioner that I can. Also I can keep up to date with people I look up to such as public figures who have twitters or just friends that I want to remain in contact with or check up on from time to time.

I feel like this tool will help me tremendously in my future line of work. I am sure this class will continue to help me with my life after college, after all, that is what I am in school for. This is one of the first eye openers on my future career and it is exciting to get to learn all of the tools that will help me and the tricks of the trade that are so valuable, especially to me as I can build upon these and create my own unique way of networking.

T.O.W. – Week 4

Last week, we took a course in grammar style. It was an interesting one, it helped point out a few problems that I have in sentence structure and grammar. Hopefully through that course and others in the future I will be able to correct these areas. http://www.newsu.org/courses/cleaning-your-copy-grammar-style-and-more

Public Relations

Hey, I found another link for Public Relations majors. It is an interesting read on what we can expect in “A day in the life (of a PR practitioner).” It was written by The Princeton Review. http://www.princetonreview.com/Careers.aspx?cid=171
